A Message from Our Principal

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that the first quarter will end on Friday, October 10. Students will not have school so teachers can finish submitting grades and start preparing for parent/teacher conference time. Conferences are on October 13, 14, and 15, and students will have early release at 12:00 p.m. This is an important school and family connection that focuses on the achievements of our students during the first nine weeks of the year. We strongly encourage parent participation. Please expect an invitation requesting your presence for the upcoming conferences. Here are a few items of discussion that you can expect during your child’s scheduled parent/teacher conference:

  • First quarter grades
  • Classroom behavior
  • Student work samples and assessment results
  • Tips or strategies that you can use at home to improve your child’s academic progress
  • Encouraging your involvement at home. Please read with your child for 20 minutes each weeknight. Reading with your child to reinforce fluency and comprehension is the goal. Talk to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Thank you for helping your child be successful at school by consistently checking-in and encouraging the completion of homework each school night. Please provide a quiet atmosphere so your child can focus on getting appropriate practice to learn the objectives introduced at school. A big focus this year is for students to improve in the skills of written and oral communication. Please consider asking your child to explain orally and show in writing how they complete their math homework. It will also be helpful for your child to be fluent in knowing the appropriate addition, subtraction, and multiplication math facts.  Students can practice this in the car, after they finish homework, and on the weekends between activities. Thank you for supporting our school and helping our students Believe! Achieve! Succeed!

To conclude the first quarter, we look forward to a restful and relaxing fall break! There will be no school on Thursday, October 16 and Friday, October 17. Enjoy your time as a family and rest up for the second quarter, which begins on Monday, October 20.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to e-mail or give me a call at 696-8251. Teamwork is the key to our success! I look forward to working with you as a team to provide the best possible education for our students.
