Message from our Principal

Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for October 13, 14, and 15. Every parent and teacher should meet as conferences are an important way to support the school and family connection. Expect a notice requesting your presence for a conference. At conferences, your child’s teacher will present and discuss first quarter grades, classroom behavior, work samples, and assessment results.

Many things you do at home on a daily basis will help your child be a successful student. Here are a few learning strategies to use at home:

Set aside a special reading time. Tell your child you look forward to and enjoy reading time together. Children who are read to – read!
Have your child count everything and anything.
Praise your child whenever possible.
Supervise homework. Give your child a quiet place to work and check that he completes assignments.
Practice writing your child’s stories. Children truly enjoy seeing their ideas in print.

To support reading at home, the Homer Davis Book Fair will provide a great opportunity to purchase and review high-interest books. The Book Fair will be held in the Homer Davis library October 13 to 15 and October 20 to 22 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family Night is October 13 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Homer Davis will continue to develop professional relationships to support school goals and provide opportunities for children to grow academically. Thank you for supporting our school programs and working together to build better minds.
